Try and Do

Some people Try, Some people Do…which are you?

Break even…

Know your break even number.

If you run a business, one of your key dashboard numbers should be your daily income needed to cover all expenses.

If you can’t figure it out, hire someone to figure it out for you.

Once you know your number…let your staff know.

Then work as a team to hit that number!

Bad Sales Call

Mr. Thompson, we sent you a letter and wanted to know if you would like a contract with our company?

Me: Why would you give me a contract?

Salesperson: You’re on my list?

Me: No thank you.

Before you call someone, make sure you research them just a little to know why or why not they might be a good fit for your company…Sales training 101!

Targets

Many times in life we get overwhelmed with the target.

The goal seems amazingly big, unattainable.

To increase your success, break the target down into a daily managable number or event.

Daily, make sure you hit the small target and over time you or your team can reach the target.

R E A D

Movies melt your brain.

With the start of the new year…recommit to reading.

Read blogs, books, magazines, online new sources, or the back of the toilet bowl cleaner…I don’t care what you read…just READ.

My Mother, the 71 year old librarian and I fight about content.  I claim books are going away and soon people will only use devices like IPAD’s to view and consume their information.

Mom claims I’m a heretic and that good old fashion books will never die.

No matter the end game, absorb as much content from various sources as you can.

As Eleanor Roosevelt once said

“Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.”

Reading will help you develop ideas!

READ!

Put your damn phone away

Phones are everywhere.

I love my phone.

But, when meeting with another human, I keep it hidden.  NO call is more important than the interaction I am having with the other person at that particular moment.

I was recently at a friends house playing a game with her and a couple of kids.  The entire game one of the children had their phone out”doing facebook MOM…”.    What’s amazing was that there were 3 amazing people sitting with this young person wanting an interaction, but she preferred to “surf her phone”.

Phones are part of our life, but not part of the face to face human interaction.

When meeting with a client, friend, brother, mother, or lover….Put your damn phone away.

I need a quote…

if you can save me money, we’ll switch.

Really?

I just had that conversation today.

When you get this call, what do you do.

Providing an “apples to apples” quote is doing a disservice to your client, you, and the world at large.

Ask a few questions, SKYPE a meeting or God forbid, go see the client and find their pain.

Don’t know…ask.

Ever wonder why you lost a client?

Do you think you know?

Price?

Probably not, most people don’t move because of price, they move due to a lack of attention.

Show more love to increase you retention.

Also, when you do lose a client, send them an open ended question survey using a tool like survey monkey or another online tool.

You’ll be surprised what they tell you.

This cannot continue…

I’m not an economist, but our paper society cannot continue.

There is no basis for our economy.   We’re running on the wealth of other countries.

It will take a “9.11″ type financial crisis to make people realize we have to begin making changes in our entitlement programs, government structure, and tax structure.

Prepare accordingly.

When prospecting…

Start your calls at 5:30 am…

The CEO that gets the call before 6:00 am will set an appointment.
